Dear Valued Members of the Community,
The Activities Department and residents at Highland Ridge Rehab Center would like to extend a huge thank you to those of you who participated in our Adopt-A-Resident program last year at Christmas. We had an outpouring of gifts and visitors which we are truly grateful for. However, as Christmas approaches, it is a reminder that not everyone’s holidays are cheery and bright. Many of our residents at Highland Ridge do not have visitors so our programming brings them much needed joy. Here are some ways to help:
We are humbly requesting individuals, groups and local businesses to adopt one of our 132 residents for Christmas by providing them with a Christmas gift. Each resident will create a “wish” list that will be forwarded to the adopter at a later date. Examples of the items are pajamas, sweaters, radios, throw blankets, hygiene products, etc. We request that no more than $25.00 be spent on each resident.
Christmas Tree Decorating Contest:
The residents love seeing all of the lights and decorated trees at Christmas time. This year, we will be hosting a Christmas tree decorating contest for community members to participate in. You will be able to represent your family, organization, school, church or business by decorating one of the Christmas trees that we will provide. Residents, staff, family members and Facebook followers will vote on the winning tree. The winning tree will receive a donation made to their favorite organization in their name.
We have been discussing ideas with the residents on how they would like to spend their holiday season. They have requested a candlelight service on Christmas Eve, watching children’s Christmas programs, making holiday crafts and caroling. Want to help? Have other ideas? We would love to hear from you.
If you would like to participate in these programs or have any questions, please contact Melissa Callahan, our activities director, at (540)674-4193 ext. 7108 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration,
The Highland Ridge Rehab Center’s Activities Department
Is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the
Light of love
To those who need it most.
