Our residents really enjoyed going to the Patrick County Fair on September 21st. They got to have a meal outside on the picnic tables and visit with family and friends while they enjoyed their meal. We would like to thank the Band Boosters for preparing our meal and the good service they provided. The residents also enjoyed going to see the exhibits and walking around to visit with old friends and making new ones. Some of our residents went to listen to the music while others went on a stroll around the fairgrounds. The fair is always fun for our residents to attend. They get to eat, fellowship with friends and it brings back memories of them attending the fair when they were young or taking their own children. With so many changes in the world today, the old timey county fairs will be a thing of the past! Our residents won 7 blue and 4 red ribbons this year. We would like to congratulate all our winners!
The residents had a wonderful time at Kanawha Valley Arena in Dugspur. They enjoyed sitting outside on the Saloon porch having a picnic provided by our dietary department. We would like to thank Dwayne Sowers, brother of resident Tim Sowers, for providing pizza as well for our picnic. Tommy Brown owner and Jody South, always make our residents welcome at Kanawha Valley. They provided homemade cookies and sodas for the residents. The residents enjoyed touring the arena area and looking at all the carriages. Looking at them is like taking a step back in time. It’s like visiting the old west, when you had stagecoaches and bank robbers. Kanawha Valley is a wonderful place to visit and it’s something for all ages to enjoy! Thanks, Tommy, Jody, and Dwayne for all you did for us on our visit! We are already planning another trip with some of our veterans!
We are planning our Halloween Kids night for the area children to come in to have a safe “Trick or Treat” night on October 31st at 6:00-7:30 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection and The Landmark Center. We look forward to seeing you there!
