“Hunger is always an issue in rural counties and Patrick County is no exception.” This quote was taken from a recent article in the Enterprise about Landmark residents kicking off the “Bowl Fest” by making 14 bowls on October 12. On November 9, along with a local community artist, residents painted the bowls they created earlier for the “Bowl Fest” which is an international project to fight hunger. Landmark residents are excited to be a small part of this event.
Landmark veterans and family members were honored with a pinning ceremony, provided by Mountain Valley Hospice, on November 9, 2017, at The Landmark Center. Veterans were also recognized during the Ribbon Cutting for the Grand Opening of the new Veterans Hall at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection, Saturday, November 11.
Friday, November 10, residents welcomed a new entertainer, Ben Shirley, to The Landmark. We look forward to his return in December. After dinner, residents enjoyed beautiful Southern gospel music performed by Roger Wells.
Beth Ford, Historical Services Assistant, and Becki Turner, volunteer, both from Reynolds Homestead in Critz, led the monthly Art Fusion Discussion Group, November 14, 2017. Beth shared with the residents’ and family members’ folklore and stories about various rocks discovered in and around Patrick County. She shared the legion of how the Fairystone was created and the residents loved it. As usual, residents shared their own memories and stories from their past experiences. Residents always look forward to this activity.
Bus trips have included breakfast at a local restaurant, November 14, and a trip to the local library for an adult coloring class, November 16. On November 21 Landmark residents enjoyed lunch in Mount Airy, NC.
Evening entertainment has been provided by the Mountain View Singers, Chords of Faith, and Sue Nester. Children from Abiding Grace Church joined the residents for fun and games on November 15.
New residents were welcomed to The Landmark Center with the New Comer’s Social, November 16. On Friday, residents celebrated November birthdays with cake, ice cream, and punch. Birthday gifts were provided by the Landmark staff.
The Landmark Center welcomed new staff members with a Meet and Greet Wine Social on the evening of November 16. Community guests, as well as family members and staff, were on hand to toast our New Administrative Team; Janna Foley, Administrator, April Walker, LPN, Healthcare Coordinator, Victoria Bennett, Memory Care Coordinator, Elizabeth Nester, Memory Care Resident Care Coordinator, CNA, RMA.
Students from the senior cosmetology class at Patrick County High School provided manicures for Landmark residents, November 21. Residents enjoy the extra attention provided by these young adults.

Landmark residents and family members will be celebrating this wonderful time of the year with an Old Fashion Family Christmas, Saturday, December 9, 2017, in the Landmark dining room. They will share together a traditional Christmas dinner which will include a Turkey Carving Station. Entertainment will be provided by Judy and Ralph.
