Landmark Activities

Friday, March 3, 2017, residents and staff were urged to dress in blue and unite for a future free of colon cancer.

    Residents welcomed Pastor Dave Boarman Saturday morning, March 4, and the Wayside Singers, Sunday afternoon, March 5. We are very blessed to have so many faithful volunteers.

    The monthly Operation Homefront meeting was held March 7 at The Landmark Center. If you served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, you are invited to join us at The Landmark Center, 227 Landmark Drive, Stuart, VA, the first Tuesday of the month, 9-10 am.     The Dietary Department invited residents and staff to a food show March 8, in the dining room. Johnathan Stanfield, Assistant Dietary Manager, along with the dietary staff, prepared an assortment of new foods for everyone to taste; some of which may be added to the menus.

    Local artists joined Ursula Allen, March 9, for the Community Art Class. Volunteers assisted the residents in creating a St. Patrick’s Day Card and drawing a colorful spring picture. The group, “Two Hands,” joined Landmark residents March 11 for crafts and fun.

    Bus trips have included a local shopping trip and breakfast on Thursday morning, March 9. Residents also ate lunch out at a local restaurant and traveled to the Patrick County Library for an Adult Coloring Class.

    The Landmark Cooking Club, led by volunteer, Helen Cowley, have been preparing dishes with a touch of green which included, Watergate Salad, Green Grape Salad, and Green Apple Candy Pie. The best part of this activity is the taste test which all recipes have passed with flying colors.

    The “Hold Your Hand” Family Education Series meets the second Thursday evening of each month, 6-7 pm, in the former Physical Therapy room at The Landmark Center. This series covers a variety of topics which affects families and caregivers who are currently caring for a Senior Citizen.     There will be an Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting on March 28, 2017, 12 noon, at The Landmark Center. This program is sponsored by Southern Area Agency on Aging, The Landmark Center, and Blue Ridge Therapy Connection.

    The Balanced Living with Diabetes Series continues on April 6, 4:30-7:00 pm, at the Stuart Site of Patrick henry Community College. Seating is limited. Call (276) 694-3341 to register.
