As you approach the nursing center you will see an array of blooming trees. It’s beautiful to look at the pink and white blossoms; and see the promise of spring around the corner. With the time springing forward, we can start planning on taking our residents out for picnics, fishing or just riding around to see the green fields and flowers in bloom. Cabin fever is always something we have to deal with during the winter months. The residents really enjoy being outside on the patio or going on bus trips when it’s not so cold.
With Easter being early this year, we are planning our annual Easter Egg Hunt for March 24th starting at 10:00. The residents love having the children in to visit with them and watching them having hunting for the eggs. Many of our residents will go to the dining room, or come out on the patio if it isn’t cold to watch them. Some resident’s will watch out of their room windows. We will be having the Easter Bunny so you can have your little one’s picture taken. This year we will be having over 3000 Easter eggs to be divided up into two groups for the hunt. The first hunt will began at 10:30 for the age groups of 1-5 years old; it will end at 10:45. Our second group, ages 6-12 hunt will began at 11:15-11:30. We invite all the area children to come and hunt our eggs! We will be having some “Golden Eggs” for each hunt!
With Easter on the way, the residents will be stuffing eggs, coloring, making Easter crafts and they are practicing their bells to perform for the Easter Egg hunt. We always come up with different ways to color eggs, and we let the residents choose which way they want to color their eggs. Some of the residents like to decorate their eggs with markers, and put things on their eggs before the dyeing process. This is a fun activity and it makes you feel like a kid again!
We have started working on our April calendar. If you are your group would like to perform for our residents, please call Dee Dee Via at 276-694-7161 ext. 1804.
